Daytrips- Blackpool

Oh lovely Blackpool, it is either once every ten years or never again. I am the once every ten and I was very impressed to see from my last visit how it has changed and been regenerated. There is a new sea wall, new trams, new pavement, new street installations, new shops and the tower now has a glass floor AND there is a seafront wedding chapel. Maybe it is a northern thing that you went to Blackpool as a kid and watched the illuminations out of the car window, had a bag of chips special and went home well past midnight. Or maybe you went on the opening weekend of The Pleasure Beach in the old days when it was a fiver and rode all of the rides whilst heavy un-forecast march snowfall appeared while you were on The Grand National. Or is it when you went on a party coach trip for someones 18th who you now can't remember to The Palace and drank Malibu and Pernod as you can definitely handle that. I don't know, but Blackpool is just Blackpool and until the next ten years here are some pictures of things I saw and liked. Might I add, I finally saw the big disco ball and this has had me contented ever since. Look at this video of wonderment.

Post- Outgoings and a new calling.

Things have quietened down on the letters in recent months. This is OK though as things go on, people do other stuff but you will always meet back up in the post again soon. I have instead been concentrating on writing letters of complaint and disgust over certain things that have made me complain and be disgusted. For example, finding a ready salted crisp mixed in with my cheese and onion and complaining about a cup that my sister bought for my dad after it was found to not be washing safe as all of the fishes printed on the side fell off. I have turned into one of those people and I feel it is my true calling, along with becoming the best tea lady in the North of England with hostess trolley and gateaux selection. A seaside arcade 2p machine champion and running my own 'disappointment and how to live through it' classes.

Daytrips- Williamson Park- Lancaster -Ashton Memorial.

Following on from the butterfly house and still not having had time for any cake, I walked across to the Ashton Memorial. It was silent inside and full of long shadows and golden things. Up the stairs was a tiny gallery of paintings called the Williamson Gallery and then you turned around and could go outside and look at the views across Lancaster into Cumbria and Morecambe Bay.  I was very impressed but as it was so windy all of my hair got blown into my mouth and then my eyes decided to stop working so it was time to go home. The park is beautiful and I will go back mid autumn when everything is changing colour, maybe with some binoculars to look at the views and I will have some cake.

If you would like to visit and you should as it is very, very nice then go to their website -https://www.lancaster.gov.uk/parks-and-open-spaces/williamson-park/ashton-memorial/

 The monument is free to visit as is the park and the butterfly house varies in price-see HERE.

Daytrips- Williamson Park Butterfly House-Lancaster.

You can see the top of the Ashton Memorial from the M6 motorway and I always thought as a kid on the way up to the lakes it was somebody's house. Further reading now I am older says that it isn't a house but it does have views, a park and a butterfly house so obviously this is where I am meant to be. After a walk up the biggest hill in the world I was greeted with the smell of cake. As it was getting on a bit I had no time for cake so I got straight on into the butterfly house.

A little bit from the website;

'The former Palm House resembles a tropical rain forest with flowers, trees, vines, foliage and colourful butterflies.'

I like to judge palm houses with how quickly my glasses steam up. 10 seconds and completely foggy. 10/10.

Favourite things- Two very shiny blue butterflies having a nice time rolling around with each other. I heard a lady say to her daughter that 'they were just playing'-Just playing for information. Terrapin friends sitting on each other, impressive palms and lots of big green leaves, chrysalis cabinet with brand new butterfly drying off special.

Visit their website HERE.

I wiped off my glasses and walked over to The Ashton Memorial which I will tell you about next time.

Letters- Ins.

I have entered my slow phase of letter times. I seem to be spending a lot of time collecting things so I can send them all out in one go. I hadn't realised that I started this idea in April so sorry but I have your things and sorry again. Sorry.
